It is Almost Over! “A Memory of Light” Comes Out Next Week, Ending the Wheel of Time

After so many, many years Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” series ends next week with “A Memory of Light.”  Though Jordan passed away, Brandon Sanderson has done an excellent (and a few would argue, A-Memory-of-Light-Cover superior job) finishing the series.

I started reading this series before I finished college, got married or bought a home and all those things happened many years ago. WOT is literally the poster child for fantasy series that just went on too long. That said, there is some great world building, epic heroes  and a real sense of adventure throughout the series. I thoroughly enjoyed them and can now recommend others start reading the series as it is safely finished. There were some moment that I was not certain it would ever end!

Enough griping, I pre-ordered already and look forward to the final battle with the Dark One and lots and lots of balefire!

In honor of Mat, the best character in the series and my personal favorite I leave you with this quote:

Dovie’andi se tovya sagain

It is time to roll the dice!

See you all at Shayol Ghul.

Trask, The Last Tyromancer

ps. Sadly, I cannot find a Kindle edition yet.  Had to buy the dead tree version.

My wife tried to get me into the series back in the late 1990’s but I did not start reading them for like 5 years later when I had a long train ride everyday. I went back and started the series a while ago before a new book came out and was surprised about how much happened in the early books compared to the later ones. I think I have not read any of the new authors books though but good to know that the series is actually finishing so I might get the last few.
