Dispel Magic in 4th Edition

I am torn.

On the one hand, “dispel magic” in 3.5 “Dungeons and Dragons” is an unmitigated pain to use. Overly complicated, confusing and math intensive, it was a primary candidate for modification in the 4th edition.

Here is the 4th edition “dispel magic,” culled from the developers blog .

I like the new spell, my issue is with what it represents. Is this the level of complexity in the new game? How simple should an RPG be?

Read the developer’s blog and  draw your own conclusions.  Sounds like the number of spells with multiple round effects is greatly reduced. I am interested to see how this changes combat tactics.  I am witholding judgement until June 6th, but as they say in the movies “I have a bad feeling about this.”
