Free Advice to Game Publishers: How to Demo a Role-Playing Game at a Convention
I specifically went to Gen Con 2009 seeking new games. Almost every slot I played was a “no experience required” event and everyone at the table was totally new to the game world and system. After four days of demos and intro games run by game publishers I noticed some serious deficiencies with [...]
Tankfest 2009–A Tank Convention
I had to post about this because it is just interesting and generally makes me sad I no longer live in the UK. The Tank Museum in Dorset, UK is doing a weekend event of historical education, reenactments and most importantly, driving around in World War II era tanks. I am not biggest fan of [...]
Gamer Tools Review: The ZÜCA Wheeled Bag
The ZÜCA is quite possibly the world’s best gamer bag for convention goers. Trask has been asking me to do a review for a while. He even featured it in this year’s ‘10 Christmas Gift Ideas for a Role-Playing Gamer‘ due to all my man-love speech.
So, without further ado, I will begin…
Trask and I first [...]
2009: A Year of Fear and Wonder in Gaming
I know I am a bit early for the “exciting things in the new year” posts that appear around December 29th every year on most blogs. I am posting early to beat the year end rush.
2008 proved eventful to the gaming community. Gary Gygax, creator of “Dungeons and Dragons,” co-founder of “TSR” and the public [...]

The “Letter of Intent” is a summary of the terms and conditions of a potential Gen Con purchase by the “Gen Con Acquisition Group.” I summarized the highlights below and have [...]
Lucasfilm v. Gen Con Lawsuit Dismissed
The Lucasfilm lawsuit against the Gen Con gaming convention is no more! A dismissal notice, filed today with the US District Court and signed by the presiding judge, dismissed the lawsuit. The short version is that Lucasfilm expects to resolve their disputes during the bankruptcy proceedings. I previously reported on the Chapter 11 reorganization plan [...]

WOTC is Not on the Origins Exhibitor List or Map
Wishful thinking to the contrary, Origins looks to be WOTC free this year. Origins just posted the vendor map and “Wizards of the Coast” is nowhere to be seen.
You can take a look at the entire list at his link:
Origin’s Vendor List
The map is dated May 9th, so this could change. I find it [...]
D&D Experience Recon
Trask has dispatched a proxy to the DDXP experience to do some recon. He should be reporting in tomorrow. In the mean time, Critical Hits has a very nice entry on the 4th edition rules and subscriptions.
A few comments/questions.
1. Will buying a dead-tree book get me access to the online version? If not, I promise [...]
